Resume

Objective:

To pursue a career in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Geographic Information Systems and mapping.

Background:

I was born August 2, 1981 in Bountiful, Utah to the home of Von and Wendy Hill. I have one older brother and four younger sisters. My parents held religion and family togetherness as strong values in their home, thus I grew up well versed in theology in my tight knit family. At the age of 18 I moved away from home for the first time and attended Snow College 1999-2000 completing my studies in an Associate Degree of Science. Soon thereafter, I decided to go abroad and perform humanitarian aid in the small southeastern country of Cambodia in the later half of 2000. Temporarily fulfilled with my service abroad by May of 2001, I  moved back to the U.S. and attended the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs studying psychology. After completing a semester at the University of Colorado, I moved home to Utah and helped the Salt Lake Olympic Committee in the preparation and presentation of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Once the games had finished, I decided to try living abroad again and moved to a small town in central Taiwan, Beigang, and worked there as an English teacher. I turned 21 years old that summer and had finally grown up.

When I returned to the the U.S. that fall, I joined the United States Army Reserves as a combat engineer and began an academic career in engineering. It wasn’t a full year before I was deployed to a 16 month tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom II. During that tour I served mainly around the Baghdad International Airport performing the duties of route patrol, convoy escort, construction equipment operator, and humanitarian relief. When released from active duty, I returned to Utah where I continued my academic career in engineering at the University of Utah. During the summer of 2006, I learned of the opportunity of studying surveying and engineering and Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. I moved to Michigan in August of 2006 and have been studying Surveying and Engineering since. It has been an easy transition coming to FSU. The faculty has been very helpful and I did not lose anytime or credit when transferring my academic credentials.

Experience:

Mar 2005- Dec 2006 I worked at Hill & Argyle Civil Engineering and Land Surveying in Bountiful, Utah as a surveying technician and draftsman

Dec 2003 - Mar 2006 I served as a combat engineer in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during Operation Iraqi Freedom II

Before joining the army in January of 2003, I pursued studies in psychology at Snow College and University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Fall of 2002 – Spring 2006I began studying pre-engineering at Weber State University, and the University of Utah.

Immediately after graduating from Snow College in 2000, I taught English abroad in Cambodia (2000-2001), and also in Taiwan during the summer of 2002
