Objective:

I want to become a licensed Surveyor through experience and continuing education..

Experience as a Surveyor:

Summer 2005-2006  Holland Engineering Inc.                                             Holland Engineering Logo

~ I worked on boundary surveys and topographic mapping in many areas.  The concentration of my experience this past summer was working on projects for the Michigan Department of Transportation.  While working on these projects I had the opportunity to set control, use GPS to establish our control system, and run a crew using a total station to perform detailed mapping from right of way to right of way.  The summer of 2005 I was more involved in boundary surveys and pipeline location, staking, and preliminary topographic mapping of pipelines.  I staked houses as well while working for Holland Engineering Inc..

Summer 2004 Michigan Department of Transportation

~ While I worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation I was able to use the latest Leica equipment available for a establishing targets in a photogrammetry project, as well as in a topographical survey.  The equipment included the leica total station, GPS equipment, and level.

Other Work Experience:

Summers 1996-2003 worked at Schepers Brothers Company Inc.

~ While working for Schepers Brothers I did steel stud framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and drywall finishing work, of which I was primarily a drywall finisher, but have a very good backround in all the other field of work as well.

Other Surveying Experience:

Ferris State University – Surveying Engineering

~While at Ferris, I was able to work with all the new Leica equipment, and I was also able to get some experience with Leica Geo Office, and other programs such as AutoCAD, ARCGIS software, EaglePoint, Microsoft Access, and many others.

Education:

2003-Current Studying for a Bachelor of Science degree, Department of Surveying Engineering , College of Technology, Ferris State University.

2001-2003 Studied at Grand Rapids Community College to continue education at Ferris Stated Universtiy Grand Rapids Community College , Homepage.

Interests:

I am an avid wakeboarder during the summer months along with barefoot skiing and anything else on the water.  When it gets too cold out I enjoy snowskiing with my family, friends, and wife.  And for all the in between months I enjoy riding my dirtbiking and riding road bikes.  The links may give the away the fact that I am also a Michigan basketball and football fan!

Interesting Facts:

I was married on Dec. 11 of 2004 to Jill L. Haagsma.  We currently live in Grand Rapids and have 3 pets which are 2 cats a 1 dwarf gerbil.   I am a member of Burt and Mullet at Ferris State University as well as a member of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors.
