Think of your content and the sensibilities of your audiences. Since the Web audience goes way beyond the university. You want to avoid unintentionally insulting or harassing someone based of race, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. Some information posted on your Web pages, or on the pages with which you link, could have negative effects on you, such as preventing you from getting certain jobs or aligning you with controversial causes. What kinds of resources you link to says something about you. Information on your Web page could make it easier for someone to harass you. Do not reveal personal information about yourself or others. To protect yourself, remember that infringement of copyright laws, obscene, harassing or threatening materials on Web sites can be in violation of local, state, national or international laws and can be subject to litigation by appropriate law enforcement agencies. Ferris State University will stop your university access and process you through Student Judicial Services if you fail to meet and comply with the computing policy conditions. Copying images off the Web without permission and placing them on your web page is a copyright violation, even if you give credit to the source. Graphics on the Web are not free unless they are advertised as free. To avoid plagiarism, be sure that you cite sources in your Web pages and in your student papers online. Student web pages are for your private non-commercial use only. They may not be used as advertisement for a business or to buy, sell, or trade anything whether for profit or not. Your web page directory size maybe limited. Watch the file size of graphics and other material files posted on your site. Be creative in designing your Web page. The originality of your Web page is a projection of your personality and be sure that whatever graphics or backgrounds you use are not copyrighted.
